What Causes The Feeling Of Parasites In Brain?

default
Posted on Sat, 13 Sep 2014
Question: I know this is embarrassing to hear but i dont care, im 19 going on 20 in October and I recently encountered a circle of worries that came with financial repercussions. But if any one is reading this please humor me and listen to what i have to say, please don't be a jerk and please hear me out. I'm a guy who always thought that i would get over my anxieties. My first,(and what i thought was supposed to be my last) was in elementary school. Recently and a while ago it began with a visit to the emergency room because i felt like my head was swollen/heavy, in which they gave me an mri scan blood test, the works.and they concluded that nothing was wrong with me. Then i went got my stool checked because i was afraid that i might have contracted a parasite in my body, they concluded that what they examined was indigenous flora (no white blood cells were found and i didn't have any selmonella or E. Coli). Then i got tested for melanoma from a random small mole growth i had to see if i had anything only to hear that the results came back as normal, and now im back again thinking that i have parasites in my head :( lol. and that something bad is going to happen to me. please talk to me anyone, should i have anything to worry about? I know I drink lots of water/eat right . all the meat i eat and cook excluding pork is well done, and i haven't been swimming in any dirty rivers, lakes lately. Should i really continue worrying about myself? :(

Brief Answer:
There is no need to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your detailed description and your current symptoms.

I know you are anxious, however, I would like to reassure you that you have no serious illness and you do not have parasites in the brain. There is no need to worry at all.

Moreover, an MRI of brain has already been done and it excluded any parasites such as tapeworms.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

I'm trusting you, and I guess I need to start trusting others as well. I believe the term is hypochondriac and I guess i do have ocd. I'd like to ask you one last question, and if you're un-able to answer it properly there's no need to. By any chance would you know how difficult it would be (my chances) to contract such parasitic illnesses of the brain? Like i mentioned initially, I've been eating alot healthier for the past month than before, and i'm just afraid of any possible factor. And (regrettably) seeing as how WebMd can be one of the worst places to self-diagnose any issues, i unfortunately read that you can contract such diseases through the dirt and that's what frightens me because i do walk around in sandals alot and even in my garden. I don't mean to seem selfish here and utilize your valuable time towards others who actually do have injuries or illnesses, but if you might be able to provide me with any extra bit of info, positive facts that would leave me thinking otherwise about brain parasites etc. you'd be bringing my mind alot of peace.

Brief Answer:
Chances are close to nil.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back and I feel happy if my answers help you in any way.

In my opinion, you have almost no chances of contracting the parasitic infection of the brain. This is because your food is clean and hygienic. Also, you are walking with a footwear and not barefoot.

Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
