What Causes The Feeling Of Something Stuck In The Throat And Choking Spells Despite Taking Prednisolone For Asthma?
Question: I have asthma. I was recently given Prednisolone to help with liquid/mucus surging up into my top chest/throat area, but it is not totally effective, I am ok for a few hours and then suddenly usually later in the day I get a violent choking spasm where it feels like a plug has been stuck in my throat and I can't breathe. I am becoming desperate! can you help please with any advice?
Brief Answer:
Please add mucolytics
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
As you explain the history, if you were my patient, I would add in your current treatment the mucolytics like Acetylcysteine twice orally for some days. They help the secretions to be more fluid and to get them off the airways easily.
And try to drink a lot of lukewarm water too.
Hope to have been helpful.
