Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
After going through it the first possibility for me is depression. Depression is one of the common problems which occur more frequently as the age advancvces. In addition the feeling of sadness and miserable is hallmark features of it.
Additionally there is loss of emotional reactivity which leads failure to enjoy pleasurable activities while inability to cry in situations where we used to cry in past. In this way there is detachment from surroundings which makes us more miserable and sad.
Having said this I like to advise you to see your primary physician or a psychiatrist as soon as possible.
I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards

In my clinical practice I regularly see patients with clinical depression with loss of reacting to emotional stimuli.
