What Causes The Sensation Of Flashing Lights In The Field Of Vision?

Question: i am 29 year old female. I felt a crystal , prism like appearance in the left corner of my eye today morning all of a sudden while i was looking at the XXXXXXX and it stayed on for 5 minutes,it only affecetd the left eye and that too only the corner , straight vision was fine . i washed the left eye in cold water and it went away in a minute or so and havent had it after that, i have a really mild headache now, probably because i was worried , checked my bp and is normal.. its the first time i have ever had it , i dont have any vision issues yet and dont wear a spectacle.what could this be, it just happeend for 5 minutes or so.

This was probably flashes that you felt in your eye. It is possible if one looks at a very bright light or can be spontaneous. If there are no other symptoms like floaters or blurring, just don't worry and be relaxed. If it happens again and again, than visit an ophthalmologist and get a ophthalmoscopy done.

Flashes are lightening streaks whereas floaters are grey thread like structures seen when we see towards light. We usually see floaters normally but if in too large amounts than they need to be investigated.
