What Causes The Urge To Urinate With Decreased Urine Output?
Question: I've been having difficulty urinating. I feel the urge constantly and go every few minutes but the output is very little. Sometimes I have a strong sudden urge and I barely make it to the bathroom. Even after I use the bathroom, I don't feel relief. There is no sign of infection. I have been having these symptoms for about a week. I've experienced this before and saw a doctor who did a urinalysis that was clear. I don't know what is causing this constant discomfort.

Thanks for query .Based on the symptoms that you have I think you have Obstructive Voiding symptoms due to Senile Urethral Stenosis ,
In female as the age advances there is generalized atrophy of genito urinary organ including Urethra resulting into narrowing of urethral passage (Urethral stenosis) .This narrowing of urethral passage causes incomplete emptying of bladder while passing urine and significant amount of urine to remain in bladder what is called as Post Void urine .This stagnated urine is the source of infection (UTI) causing all the symptoms.
Consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination ad get following basic tests done to confirm diagnosis
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Endoscopic Examination of bladder (Cystoscopy) and calibration of urethra (Widening of urethral passage )
This will help to improve urine floew and bladder to empty completely .
The calibration of dilated urethra has to be maintained by self intermittant catheterization and urethral dilatation at home for 2-3 months .This helps to resolve the issue for forever .
Taking appropriate antibiotics as per culture report along with anti muscuranic drug like Darifenacin once daily will help to resolve problem of urgency for urination .
