What Causes Thick And Heavy Menstrual Bleeding?

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Jun 2016
Question: Hello, so I am on my period and I noticed flesh-like pieces were in my blood. I'm assuming it's because they lining of my uterus is shedding. But I have a lot of it. I was also 2 weeks late for my period. I took a test before I started my period and there is a very faint line almost not visible. Should I be concerned and visit my Dr. ?

Brief Answer:
It is normal to have thicker lining with delayed periods.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Since your periods were late by two weeks the lining of the uterus is likely to be thicker and overgrown. A very slight positive line on pregnancy test is not suggestive of pregnancy. If the bleeding is within the limits then there is no need to worry. In case there is a heavy bleeding then do consult your gynecologist and get proper medicines prescribed to stop the bleeding.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
