Brief Answer:
vaginal swab to confirm the infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to HCM,

I can understand your concerns,

As you told that you have thick white discharge and your Gynecologist diagnosed it as yeast infection.(assuming she did physical examination).

In yeast infection, discharge appears curdy and can cause itching. Vaginal swab testing helps to confirm it.

In my opinion, the adequate treatment for yeast infection is clotrimazole vaginal pessary for 6 nights and tablet fluconazole 150mg once weekly for 3 weeks orally.

Hope this helps.

I wish you well.
Thanks.
