What Causes Throat Itching And Cough?
Try a nasal decongestant and/or an antihistamine.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for using Healthcare Magic.
Coughing associated with an itching throat could be caused by a post nasal drip. This is when mucus drips down the back of the throat and causes irritation. This condition can be more common in smokers.
The post nasal drip may be secondary to inflammation of the sinuses, an upper respiratory infection or allergies.
In the first instance, I suggest you try a nasal decongestant which can be obtained over the counter from your pharmacist. If you think there may be a possibility of an allergy try an antihistamine, again from your pharmacist.
If you are still no better in a few days, I suggest you see your doctor who may wish to examine your ears, nose and throat to check for signs of infection and run a few tests such as an X-ray and bloods.
I hope this is of help. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
