What Causes Throat Pain After Smoking?
It is probably a non-infectious pharyngitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As you mentioned, it is related to the smoking habit. It is probably a pharyngitis with a non-infectious cause, however you haven't mentioned anything about fever, so I am presuming you haven't got one. It should generally subside after stopping smoking unless you are taking one or two to address any withdrawal. I would suggest you to try some home remedies like gargling with lukewarm saline water, every 4 hours for a period of 10 minutes. Also if you have got acidity or 'gastric symptoms' taking care of that too should help with OTC antacids like Gelusil/ Mucaine syrup 10ml/ twice per day. You can also start gargling with an anti-inflammatory solution called Tantum. It is available as OTC syrup. Taking a brufen tablet once a day too should address it provided you do not have any allergy to it. In spite of all these if it isn't reducing, it probably is time for you to consult a ENT doctor to actually see what is going on in the throat. If you have any additional symptom or think you have more related symptoms, please do reply.
Drinking 3 lts of water will prevent dehydration and soothing the throat along with the above advice.
Try these home remedies and continue doing them for a week. And obviously ABSTAIN from smoking.
