Question: Hi, I am having pain in the front of my throat in the adam's apple (though I am female) area. It hurts when I swallow and if I push on it it hurts. Not sore throat pain but different. Like bruised pain.

Brief Answer:
2 options

Detailed Answer:
Hi
There are 2 possibilities

1. This may be some kind of throat condition like an abscess. There may be sevre pain on swallowing and speech. Voice may be affected as well. It needs to be confirmed by a laryngoscopy. A long term antibiotic course may be needed

2. There may be a high possibility that this may be due to GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease. In this, the excess gastric acid is shifted from the stomach to the food pipe and then to the throat. This causes irritation of the throat and voice box causing the pain and a feeling of discomfort. A long term course of proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole 40 mg may be needed.

Best of luck
