What Causes Throbbing Pain In The Bone Behind Ear?
Question: My wife has jabbing and throbbing pain in the bone behind her right ear. She also feels she may have a small sinus infection in the right nostril area. Can this be related?
Brief Answer:
Yes this is related.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Middle ear and nasopharynx are connected with each other through an Eustachian tube. And infection can spread through tube either ways.
Its very common to get ear infections after sinus infection. It is very likely that your wife has got mastoid(ear cells) infection after nasal sinus infections.
She can either get directly treated with higher antibiotics or she can get a scan done before starting treatment.
Please see a ENT consultant sooner.
Hope this helps. Please ask if there are doubts.Regards.
