Brief Answer:
FNAC or biopsy is the best investigation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
I can understand your concern even after a Doctor has said - not to worry.

As per the history you have provided you have 2 problems- 1. Thyroid nodule and 2. knot in the chest, the position of which you have mentioned is anterior sternal area.

The lumps at this area are usually benign meaning not cancerous. Can be due to a fibroadenoma or fibroadenosis.

From which nodule the biopsy was taken- whether from the thyroid or from the chest nodule or both- you have mentioned this is normal.

I would advise the following in such patients:
Repeat FNAC- Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology to re-confirm the diagnosis in both the conditions of thyroid and the chest. This gives a better idea.
Anyway you are going to have ultrasonography of the anterior sternal area.

Once the final tissue Diagnosis is made , it is possible plan the further course of action. You may please request for the total excision of the chest lump.

The pain / sore in the neck can be due to stress and anxiety.

I hope this answer helps to clear your doubts and reduce the stress you may be going through.
Please feel free to ask for more if you need to.
