Posted on Tue, 28 Jun 2016
Question: Hi,

I have tightness and pain just below left chest after every time I masturbate. It lasts entire day until i sleep it off. The thing is it doesn't happen after sex, only masturbation. Feels like some thing is trapped there and I then have difficulty breathing (short breaths).

Thanks

Brief Answer:
It is most probably muscular pain

Detailed Answer:
Helo,
Thanks for using health care magic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

For a 28 year young otherwise healthy male isolated pain after masturbation is most probably muscular rather than cardiac. Absence of pain after sex rules out post orgasmic illness syndrome another condition responsible for pain. In addition absence of pain after other activities and after sex rules out cardiac problem which often presents with left side pain.

After ruling out two most common and important reason we are left with muscular pain which is most likely cause in your case. This is possible as during masturbation there is often application of more pressure in addition to uncomfortable posturing during masturbation (not always). Feeling of something trapped again indicates that there is some twist in muscle.

Considering all I feel it is important to change posture during masturbation. Try to use most comfortable position and avoid masturbation in small places such as bathrooms.

I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.

Thanks for the detailed answer.

I'll pay attention to it. Is it wise to take any muscle relaxant to reduce the pain if it happens? Or do some specific exercise to make it better?

Brief Answer:
I do not think muscle relaxant is right choice

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for reverting back to me.

It is ok to take muscle relaxant on one or another occasion but it should be avoided as far as possible.

The first thing is to do required adjustments in life and even if that do not yield results you can go for it when it is absolutely necessary.

Rather than specific exercises keeping yourself healthy should be motto which includes stretching exercise of 30-45 minutes per day.

Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
