I have gone through your query and understand your concern. To help you better please tell me
1. Do you have any radiating pain from lower back to foot with numbness and tingling sensation?
2. Duration of suffering?

My suggestion for you are-1.Hot water fomentation to lower back and hamstring, the medicine which help are ibuprofen along with muscle relaxant drug thiocolchicoside. Get it prescribed from your local doctor.
2 .Physiotherapy in form of short wave diathermy and TENS therapy is helpful

Thank you. No radiating pain. Onset negan when plaster was remobed in 2001 due to the diabetes they wouldnt pin the ftacture and as such i was in plaster for 5 months up to the top of my thigh tyem 2 months below knee plaster. What kind of muscle relaxants do you mean please?

I have gone through your reply carefully and would suggest muscle stretching exercises for back under guidance. The muscle relaxant drugs which helps are Thiocolchicoside/Metaxolone/Baclofen. Your local pharmacist/GP might know about it.

Being on steroid for long time, I would also suggest to have vitamin D, B12 and calcium supplementation to improve the bones density (health).
