What Causes Tingling In Arm While Suffering From Acoustic Neuroma In Ear?

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Sep 2015
Question: Hello,
I have an acoustic neuroma on my left ear. The size is 14.3 mm X 9.5 mm X 9.0 mm. This condition did not impact so far my hearing or else except for tinnitus . it has been stable in growth since at least 5 years. I am 55 years old.
Last saturday, a significant increase in tinnitus was observed with the following symptoms: whenever my head was moving, there was a sensation around my head like a movement delay and some tingling in my right arm. Since then, these symptoms come and go.

Brief Answer:
Brain MRI to reassess the size of tumor

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have asked you to get a fresh MRI of brain with contrast done to reassess the size of tumor.
Tingling in right arm can occur if the acoustic neuroma affects the neural tracts nearby. This is a new symptom,so we expect some change in the tumor morphology.

Please upload the fresh MRI and old MRI,so that I can compare the two and advise you accordingly.

Please feel free to ask follow-up questions.

Brief Answer:
There does not appear to be significant increase in size.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

I have gone through both the MRI's.There does not appear to be a significant increase in size of the tumor, not significant enough to cause new symptoms.

What is the radiologist's report, while comparing the two MRI's?

I think in this scenario, you should get physically examined yourself by a neurologist, including funduscopic evaluation.
