What Causes Tingling In Arms After An Orgasm?

default
Posted on Thu, 31 Jul 2014
Question: I sometimes get a weird feeling for a few seconds in my left arm right after I orgasm. This never happens any other time.I exercise daily and get my heart rate way up ; probably higher than during sex ,and I never experience this tingly feeling--only after orgasm and not all the time.It doesn't matter what position I am in either.
I'm in good health otherwise, though I do take a blood pressure med...family history of HBP.I have it we'll controlled. I recently had a lipid blood test done and my numbers are good: HDL 48, total chol was around 168, and LDL was 75.I think my ratio was excellent. I think my Trigly was good and blood sugar was good

also...I don't have prediabetes etc. I still get great feeling from orgasm as always.
Is this anything to be concerned about? I'm 54

Brief Answer:
I would suggest you to get some heart test

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,
I am very happy to know that you are keeping your self fit and enjoying your sex at fifty. Weired sensation in their arm, do you have this sensation all the time, in all sex position or in certain positions. Please send me the answer.
I do not think though that you should be worried too much. It can be a positional sensation.
Though I would suggest you to get a stress echo and ECG. It will confirm if any problem in the heart is there.
I hope this answer will help you. Let me know if you want to ask any follow up questions.
Thanks.

To answer, I do not have the tingly feeling all the time .and not in all positions.
I never get chest pain during sex, nor do I get chest pain or any pain when I exercise.
FYI, I did get an EKG done about a year and half ago during a physical and it was normal at that time.
And the sensation isn't painful ,just tingly. Very weird.
If there was any kind of heart issue, though, wouldn't I feel the sensation while I was exercising? I'm pretty sure my heart rate gets higher on average during exercise than during sex.
I will look into the stress echo . What do my good cholesterol numbers mean ?
Do they reflect heart health?

Brief Answer:
I think it it due to abnormal position

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,
Your sensation as it is not present all the time and not in all position indicate that it is a positional issue, so it is not related to heart. That is the reason you do not feel it during exercises.
As your ECG was done long back, I would suggest you to repeat it wit ECHO.
Your cholesterol level is good and it means your metabolism is fine.
Thanks.

Ok,thanks. I do want to clarify one thing though. I miss stated one thing: the sensation does not occur every single time, but it does most of the time(prob 90%)
And when it has occurred ,I have been in different positions.
I'm not sure if that changes your recommendation to me.? It never occurs during exercise though, nor at any other time
I will ask my doctor about the echo.
Is there anything else? I'm glad that I have good metabolism.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
It is a positional sensation

Detailed Answer:
This proves that whenever your position is such that you stretches a nerve, it is causing that sensation. It is not a very large nerve but can be a nerve only supplying to skin so there is weird sensation but not weakness.
I would suggest you to take Methylcobal which is good for nerve health after discussing with your doctor.
Thanks.

Thanks to the doctor who has given me this advice/info... This is not so much a follow up question ,but I just now noticed that the doctor who answered my question was an orthopedic surgeon, not an internist or GP,... Not that I don't value the info ,but I also would like my questions forwarded on to an internist please.....just to confirm what the ortho doctor told me. Please do that....I had to pay additional $$ ,so please if you can, pass on my questions ,just so I know an internist looked them over also.
I realize that the advice may be just the same, but bear with me .Thanks, XXXXXXX
