Brief Answer: Carpal tunnel or cubital tunnel syndrome Detailed Answer: Tingling and numbness in the hand and fingers can be caused most commonly by carpal or cubital tunnel syndrome. Entrapment of a nerve in the neck can also cause these symptoms. Carpal tunnel syndrome is pressure on the median nerve at the wrist which causes pain and tingling in he thumb and index finger. Treatment includes physiotherapy and wrist splints. Steroid shots into the carpal tunnel can be of benefit. Ultimately surgical release can be required which can be done under local anaesthetic. Cubital tunnel syndrome is entrapment of the ulna nerve at the elbow. The treatment is the same as for carpal tunnel syndrome but focused on the elbow rather than the wrist. This condition causes tingling on the pinky side of the hand. A through physical examination should be able to confirm the diagnosis. EMG studies and sometime done and can distinguish nerve entrapment in the limb from nerve entrapment in the neck. An MRI scan of the neck can also be done to look for nerve entrapment in this location. I hope you find this information beneficial. Best wishes
