Posted on Mon, 27 Oct 2014
Question: Hi, My name is XXXX. I woke up this morning with a really bad tingly feeling in my left cheek. I have been sick for about a week and a half now. I was diganosed with bronchitis, sinusitis, and esophagitis. Am I in the process of having a stroke, or is it my sinuses just acting up?

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Acute sinusitis- antibiotics, decongesents

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM,

As per your clinical details ( tingling in cheek) , I opine that you are having sinusitis.

Normally post nasal drip of sinusitis can drip into lungs and causes wheeze ( bronchitis), inflammation also acts on
esophagial sphincter and causes
esophagitis.

It's not stroke, do not worry. you are already on antibiotics, ppi inhibitors ( nexium). It takes time to resolve. you can add nasal decongesents like xylometazoline and pain killers as per your treating doctor. Mean time you can continue steam inhalation for sinus free drainage.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

How long will I remain sick for with all of this? Is it okay if I smoke marijuana while I have all of this going on as that is my medication, and I have my med card?

Thanks!

Marijuna or simple smoking can block sinus osteum( openings), can react your hypersensitive bronchioles leading to exaggeration of your symptoms.

Marijuana is my medicine for stress and anxiety. How much longer would this delay the healing process for? What would you advise me to do with marijuana? Because I would be a complete and total train wreck without it.

Brief Answer:
stop marijuana.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for follow up.
Delayed healing depends upon your dosage, frequency of marijuana. But definitely it delays healing process. It may take weeks to months.
MARIJUANA can cause -distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty in thinking and problem solving, ongoing problems with learning and memory.

I do not think, you have gone to the stage of dependence. if so, you require rehabilitation programmes.

Your health and future lies on your marijuana. please stop.
I would not recommend it. Discuss about this your treating doctor.

Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Similar effects with both.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your follow up.

Eating marijuana is a little different from smoking it. The effects last much longer and the experience can be a lot more intense. The effects can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to start. similar effects with both. Hence I suggest you to stop it.

All the best. take care.

Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your follow up.
Yes, it interfere with your illness since it decreases your immunity which delays healing.
Eating marijuna edibles can cause intense anxiety, excessive sedation, respiratory depression,(you already have history of lung problems disease and sinusitis) respiratory failure. if not treated with ventilator support can lead instant death. ( of course it depends on the number of servings).

I don't see how that could be possible with death though? I didn't think weed could kill somebody? I'm getting these from the dispensary, so I know that there is nothing but THC in them.

Thank you so much for your time,
