What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness In Limbs?

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: I recently asked about the tingling and sometimes numbing sensation I experience in my limbs when sitting or laying. it happens in all four but more on the left side and it tends to go away when I move around. though I notice it happens when I am standing and walking when I lift my arms. In the previous thread one of the things suggested was a cervical nerve compression. would that effect things when I am standing? and while riding horses I have come off two times. one about two years ago where I hit on an angle head first and got a minor concussion. a few hours after that fall severe pain shot down my spine starting from the base of my skull. then it faded and there wasn't anything other pain. in a more recent fall I slammed onto my upper back and head before rolling feet over head and back to my feet. could either of these have had an effect on this?

Brief Answer:
Yes, injuries could have contributed.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

Yes, it is possible that your injuries could have contributed in the cervical cord/nerve injury leading to numbness and tingling of arms and legs.

If symptoms are troublesome, you can get an MRI scan of cervical spine done to clarify the diagnosis.

As of now, medications such as pregabalin capsules can help you get relief from tingling sensations.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

Brief Answer:
Neck exercises and medications can help.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

Neck extension exercises, as taught by a physical therapist, would help.

Also, as earlier mentioned, pregabalin capsules can also help you get relief from these symptoms.

Best wishes,
