default
Posted on Mon, 2 May 2016
Question: I have tingling in my feet and I feel like I am walking on pebbles at times. I also have some tingling nerve sensations down the back of my legs when I get up in the morning. Then it seems to go away. I sleep I one position all night as I use a c-pap machine. And yes my feet are warm. I also have curvature of the spine and spurring in the cervical and lumbar area.

Brief Answer:
Peripheral neuropathy/Nerve conduction studies/vitamin B12

Detailed Answer:
Hi Getzville,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar, a neurologist, here to answer your query.

Apparently, you are a patient of obstructive sleep apnea(OSA). If you would have presented to me as an outpatient with these symptoms, I would have told you that the symptoms (tingling in feet and feeling like walking on pebbles) you have mentioned are probably due to peripheral neuropathy. OSA has been associated with peripheral neuropathy.

I would advise you to get Nerve conduction studies done to look for the evidence of neuropathy. At the same time, other common causes of neuropathy like Diabetes, vitamin B12 deficiency should be evaluated. So, please get the following blood investigations-
1)Blood sugar-fasting and post prandial
2)Serum vitamin B12
3)ESR

Further, you may be started empirically on antineuralgic medicines like pregabalin or gabapentin along with methylcobalamin supplementation.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to answer else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
