What Causes Tiny White Blister On Upper Lip?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Jun 2014
Question: I have a white tiny little bump on my upper lip, 2 actually... they kind of look like blisters. I do get cold sores, and I just got over 2 of them (one was right above the tiny bump). Could this be a cold sore? I put medication on it but it isn't doing anything.

Brief Answer:
It is not a cold sore...proably canker sore!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this sore that you have reported. I have taken a close examination of the sore and for sure it is not a cold sore. Cold sores are common on the external surface and not the internal surface of the lips. This is more suggestive of a canker sore which are minor infections in the oral cavity. 2 in number need no specific treatment or drug to be applied. If you are in pains and feeding is difficult, you may want to use paracetamol for pain relief. This normally resolves within a week.

For now, I recommend monitoring. be calm, it is not too bad and it should slowly regress within a week without the need of a specific treatment.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and thank you so much for using our services. Feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be.

It is not on the inside of my mouth though... it is on the outside, on the lips... I know the picture makes it look like it is on the inside, but it is on my lips for sure.... still a canker sore??

Brief Answer:
If i is to the outside...cod sore more likely!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the correction. Am sorry I didn't locate the sores correctly.

With this additional precision, I will rather stick to a cold sore. They generally need no specific treatment. Avoid picking on it or applying topical antibiotic creams. These may rather delay healing. Keep them clean and dry and they would run their natural course and subside. Have you ever had oral herpes?

I hope this helps. i wish you well. Feel free to request for more information and clarification if need be.
