What Causes Tiredness And Exhaustion Post IUI?

Question: hi,
i did IUI yesterday around noon. when i came back home, felt tired and slept for a while. this morning when i woke up, saw blood smear and clear non sticky discharge. during the day felt tired again and slept again. now feeling tired again and painful shoulders. i'm not someone who sleeps during the day unless I'm sick. i had no other signs of blood other than that in the morning. am i having any kind of side effects with the washed sperm?

Brief Answer:
I find nothing unusual. Just relax.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have carefully gone through the details provided and understand your concerns. I do not think that you are having any reaction to the washed and processed semen. It is not unusual to be exhausted after a medical procedure which also involves emotional stress. In such a case I would not consider it unusual if you have been sleeping in the day time. I know many people who are used to afternoon naps. I would not worry about the slight blood staining that you had.
Feel free to contact back in case you have any further queries.

are there any precautions that i should take following the IUI so as to help the egg's implantation? when would i know if i'm pregnant or not? what are the early symptoms that i may have?
Brief Answer:
You need to miss your periods first.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.
Be sure to be safe and not to fall down. Otherwise there are no specific precautions that you need to take in order to ensure fertilization and implantation. The success of the IUI depens on the accuracy of the timing. You would know that you are pregnant when you miss your periods. You need to wait for around 3 weeks from your IUI date and if you have still not got your periods, you should get a urine pregnancy test done. The early symptoms include increased nausea but that might not always be present. Breast tenderness is another early symptom that could be present but the most important one is missing periods.
