What Causes Tiredness Inspite Of Having Provera For Kallmann Syndrome?
Question: Hi, I'm a 39 year old female. I've always been tired every since I can remember. But the last few months it seems to have gotten worse. I'm not able to concentrate as well as I used to. I often will forget things that I was told only minutes before. Or repeat myself minutes after I have said something.
I have not had any medication changes recently. I am on premerin and provera for Kallmann's syndrome. I've been on these meds since I was 19 years old. I'm on Lamictal for seizures and have been since I was 32 or 31. I had ASD repair when I was 4 years old. My last physical (3/14) was normal.
I'm curious about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome....
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Hypopituitarism to be ruled out
Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern. Sorry to hear about your symptoms.
As you have Kallman's syndrome, it is essential to rule out other pituitary hormone defciencies as a cause of your symptoms. How is your smell sensation?
You may need to do following tests
1) Electrolytes
2) 8 AM Serum cortisol
3) Free T4, TSH
+ Vitamin D levels
Chronic fatigue syndrome is a vague term used to describe chronic tiredness and fatigue when all other disorders have been ruled out. Depression is often associated with chronic fatigue syndrome.

I don't have a sense of smell.
Is it possible to acquire other hormone deficiencies as I get older? I don't know what to expect with having Kallman's as I age. I'm assuming the best thing to do would be to see a specialitst.

Brief Answer:
Endocrine consultation
Detailed Answer:
Yes, as an endocrinologist, i wish i could help you. But there is limited help i can offer online . Direct examination is essential and important. You may need to visit an endocrinologist. In Kallman's syndrome, the gonadotropins ( LH and FSH) are low or absent and hence you will have no estrogen. Other hormone deficiencies are unlikely but not impossible.
Nothing to worry about Kallman's syndrome. You will require to take Estrogen and Progesterone pills until around 50-55 years of age. The main concern is fertility and osteoporosis. Fertility is possible with use of FSH and hCG. Osteoporosis will be prevented if you take estrogen until normal menopause age . Need to take sufficient calcium and Vitamin D as well.
