Brief Answer: Pus may be collected, immediate drainage required Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for posting your query on HealthCareMagic. A history of root canal treatment (most probable) and crown on the molar and currently suffering from throbbing pain is suggestive of infection and accumulation of pus in the treated tooth. Infections are common in teeth which are treated by root canal treatment especially when proper hygiene is not maintained. You need to consult your dentist as soon as possible for clinical examination and a X-ray. If pus is present, it has to be drained. After that antibiotics and analgesics are required. Meanwhile you can take any pain killer, however, most of them are nor effective in case pus has accumulated. The cause has to be removed for relief. If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer. Dr Shailja P Wahal
