Question: Hello Sir,

This is XXXXXXX I have done a job changeover in Feb 2017, which requires me to work between 2PM and 11PM.By the time i go to sleep it is by 1:30 and get up by 7am.

Due to this I had lot of trouble sleeping and was feeling very anxious with work stress added.
I had visited a cardiologist to have a checkup done and reports were normal. He suggested Betacap and Restyl for anxiety.

Can I continue with these medications,I have taking them for close to a month.I feel tired and sleepy the next day.

Also is it ok to sleep daily at 1:30 am and getting up by 7am.

Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
It should be discontinued in my opinion

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear

After going through your medical query would like to tell you that if i would have been your treating physician i would prefer to discontinue them now because first of all its not helping you and secondly Restyl is habit forming. And why you are taking BETACAP, do you have any history of fast heart rate?

In my opinion you should take the help of a psychologist for opinion on SLEEP THERAPY and proper medical therapy.

I would also like to advise you to start doing YOGA daily if possible as its a very good stress buster and also keep our body systems healthy.

I hope this information will be helpful in guiding you on a right path. In future if you want my opinion you can ask me directly by visiting my profile and posting your health query there.

If you have any more doubts you can ask me back.

Kind Regards

Hello Sir,

Thanks for your inputs.

As I had a severe stress in my job and because of which i had palpitations i was prescribed Betacap and Restyl by the physician.

I have done my tests like ECG,Echo and Treadmill, all of which are normal.
Iam more worried about my sleeping late in the night at 1:30 and getting up early.

Kindly advise.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Hello Again

Detailed Answer:
If you will keep on taking stress then you will not get sleep but if you will take it in a light way then slowly your body's circadian rhythm will adapt according to your work timing and you will get sleep normally without an issue.

So dont take too much stress let your body adapt to it.

But if you find yourself helpless in this matter then take the help of a psychologist.

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
