What Causes Unexplained Bruising On Upper Back And Shoulder Blades?
Question: I have bruising on my upper back, here and there, between my shoulder blades. I was not physically abused. What might be the cause of this? I'm a 66 year old active grandmother involved with 7 grandchildren on a regular basis. My grandchildren range between 10 & 2. I'm involved in my Church Choir and Faith Community.
I remember recently having lost my footing, not enough to fall but certainly enough to twist my back. Might that have been the cause? thank you and God bless you, for the work that you do.

Brief Answer:
could have been from when you lost your footing
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. It is possible that when you lost your footing you twisted the muscles to an extent that you got small tears in the muscles that bled into your tissues causing the bleeding. I think you can just watch these bruises for now. If you are having a lot of pain then you may want to see your doctor. If you develop other bruising without any trauma then see your doctor for some blood tests. I think this most likely came from twisting of the muscles when you lost your footing. Drink plenty of water and stay active.
I hope the bruises go away soon,
Best regards,
