Question: Hi. My 14 year old daughter woke up 2 days ago with unexplained bruise like paint spatters under her breast bone, on her tummy, and hip, deep purple in colour. No pain, no bump. Now this morning the one under her breast bone seems to have spread? Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Get platelet levels checked

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Unexplained bruise can be due to low platelet levels.
In children asymptomatic viral infections may lead to decrease in platelet levels leading to bruising.
Please get her platelet levels checked.
There is nothing to worry as platelet levels will recover on its own, however a blood investigation is necessary to rule out other causes.
If possible please upload a photograph of the involved area.
This Will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you.
