default
Posted on Sat, 11 Oct 2014
Question: I have LUQ pain x 3 days. Worse after eating and at bed time. I have had in the past like a squeezing pain from taking advil. I have stopped taking advil, but this pain is like a 7 and feels like I cant breathe and doesnt change with moving. I have started taking prilosec and its a little better. But still feels like a 3 during the day and gets severe again at night. Dont have celiac disease. Tested negative for it years ago.

Brief Answer:
Peptic ulcer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Upper left abdominal area is where the part of stomach is located. Any stomach issue like peptic ulcer, stomach inflammation can give pain in this area. It is quite characteristic for stomach issues to give more intense pain after eating. Peptic ulcer can be triggered by often Advil intake and Prilosec should make this pain better.
It is important with such pain to rule out stomach cancer (As the symptoms can be very similar as with peptic ulcer) and to find out if there is no Helicobacter Pylori infection.
That is why I suggest you to consult your doctor, have abdominal ultrasound done and if there will be nothing found in it, have gastroscopy done.
In a meanwhile please try to avoid any fatty foods, spicy foods, fried foods, alcohol, coffee, chocolate, orange juices.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
