What Causes Upper Right Abdominal Pain When Diagnosed With Mesenteric Lymphadenitis?
I have taken XXXXXXX (age 12) for two separate ER visits for the upper right side abdominal pain I originally talked to you about..The drs, have concluded he has Mesenteric Lymphadenitis. They have suggested tylenol, motrin, ice or heat for the pain, none of which are helping. (He is now having sporadic sharp pain in said area). They say it will just have to get better over time and there is nothing else that can be done. He has had cat scan, x-ray and 2 ultrasounds, along with 2 sets of blood work and 2 urinalysis'. In your opinion is there anything else that can be done to help him or does he just tough it out? I am at a loss and don't know what else to do for him and hate to see him wincing in pain. Thanks for any help you can give him, I really appreciate it. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Did they say what the cause of this mesenteric lymphadenitis is?
Detailed Answer:
HI and thanks for getting back to me with updates about XXXXXXX
As a concerned mom, your concerns are genuine and I understand your worries. We will at leas need to establish what the cause is at least. If they cannot, I will suggest you ask for the possibility of getting a biopsy done. This will open the way on what the various treatment options are.
IN all, ask about the cause. Lymph nodes cannot be swollen without a cause. Secondly, request for the possibility of a biopsy if they are not sure yet of what the cause is.
With that information, we will be able to carry on and see whether there are any other options available or allowing her grow out of it is the best alternative.
I hope to hear from you. I wish XXXXXXX well. In the mean time, continue with the suggested measures as mentioned in your question.
