What Causes Upper Stomach Cramps?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: I'm having severe upper stomach cramps/pain (started after dinner last night), chills, cold sweats, constipation, nausea and throwing up, hands and feet are like ice. No temp.

I had my gallbladder out last March and a history of pancreatitus b4 it was removed. I also had my appendix removed as a teen.

Is this just a stomach bug or, given my history, should I see someone.

Brief Answer:
Meet a gastroenterologist

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal
Given your history, I would definitely suggest meeting a gastroenterologist.

For a stomach bug, this should be accompanied by loosestools usually.
That is not the case.

Given he history of pancreatitis, there is a possibility that there may be a recurrance of the episode. So you may need to further be careful on that count.

Pancreatitis is a medical emergency, and therefore I suggest tests- amylase and lipase- and visit to a gastroenterologist.

I hope that helps.
