What Causes Urinary Tract Infection?

Question: Hello, I was recently treated for a suspected UTI, my symptoms where urgency, frequency, foul smelling urine, cloudy urine, burning sensation. They did a dipstick test that showed high leukocytes, high Nitrites and sent in for a culture they said it came back positive but did not tell me what type of bacteria. I was on 500mg cipro 2x a day for 7 days, urine appears clear not, frequency and burning are gone. My question if regarding bloodwork that was taken while I was on the Cipro, my numbers came back as this WBC 11.6, Platelets 411 (this concerns me), Nuerophils on point higher than normal lab results and Lymphs were 1 point higher think 3.3 (sorry don't have paper work with me). My AST was 37, I am concerned as my bloodwork has always come back normal before. I am on a diuretic for HP low dose of 25mg, so I was on Cipro and the Diuretic was blood was drawn. My doctor said he is not concerned and said to come back in a month. Yet I am tired and listless. Any advice and please explain why numbers would be off my Dr. said infection or inflammation (I don't know or understand what inflammation means could it mean cancer somewhere in my body?

No, it does not mean cancer somewhere in my body in this context. Your doctor meant that it normal body defence to fight infection.

And this defence mechanism involves increasing of some blood cells like neutrophils, lymphocytes etc.

I can clarify things more precisely, if you can attach blood reports here, to know the readings accurately. However, based on information you have given, I think that it is due to underlying infection only and nothing much to be concerned about.

I suggest to follow up and undergo urine culture and sensitivity test if symptoms does not improve, in order to know about sensitive antibiotic that works on your infection.
