Question: I am retaining urine after my catheter was rermoved 5 hours ago. I had a TURPS procedure on Monday. Other than going to the emergency room what can or should I do

Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you had undergone TURP for enlarged prostate and has developed retention of urine after removing catheter.

many a times in elderly patients it take long ime for bladder to regain tone after surgery .

Please go to ER and get catheterized again which should be left in situ for 2 weeks ..
In the mean while get your urine culture done and take appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.
