Question: Good morning Doctor,
My last menstrual period was on XXXXXXX 8th.On my 8th day my husband and I had unprotected intercourse ,which was on XXXXXXX 15th.As it was my 8th day ,I decided to take an ipill .I took an I-pill on 16th that is within 48hrs and exactly on my 16th day (on 23rd June) I had reddish brown stains which lasted upto XXXXXXX 26.Was this withdrawal bleeding?.Unfortunately there was another episode of unprotected intercourse which was on my 17th day (June 24),but there was no ejaculation this and also the previous time but to avoid anxiety issues I took an ipill again within 24 hours. My periods shud hav come on July 5th.I know usually that there will be a delay but it's my 9th day and I am getting extremely anxious as I haven't got my period yet.My main questions are that :-1)the reddish brown stains I had earlier ,was it withdrawal bleeding?
2) will I be getting my periods ?
3) Are there any chances of pregnancy?
Hoping u shall reply at the earliest.

Brief Answer:
Most probably the side effect of i pill

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXX, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Usually there is a proper bleeding episode lasting for 3-5 days within 5 days of taking i pill.
1.Spotting do not assure of withdrawal bleeding and effectivity of i pill. I pill, however, is usually 85% effective in preventing pregnancy if taken within 48-72 hours of unprotected intercourse.
2.I pill , as you know, delays the next expected period by 1-2 weeks. Since you have taken the second i pill on XXXXXXX 24th, the periods are expected to delay beyond 15 th July.
3. There are little chances of pregnancy as i pill is not 100% effective. I will suggest you to get a urine pregnancy test done to confirm the diagnosis, if negative then you can safely wait for next 1 week for the periods to come.
