Question: Hello, I finished a dosepack of methylprednisolone 4 days ago and am experiencing vaginal bleeding (spotting). I am in perimenopause and haven't had a period for 11 months. Is this a normal side effect of the drug?

Brief Answer:
Spotting is due to methylprednisolone

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concerns about methylprednisolone and spotting per vagina.

This spotting is likely to be due to methylprednisolone tablets. These medicines are steroids. In body they get converted into hormones during metabolism. These hormones are also made up of steroids and make the use of methylprednisolone and manufacturers these hormones which you didn't have due to perimenopause.

Stopping methylprednisolone has caused withdrawal of these hormones and hence spotting.

There is nothing to worry about it.

Let me know if you need any more clarifications.
