What Causes Vaginal Bleeding During Urination?

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Dec 2014
Question: Blood from vagina during urination. For a second day now. It is quite bright.
I use Nuvaring. Inserted the new one last Tuesday, so my period should be over by now. Anyway it seems like it was over and then this. What could be the cause?

Brief Answer:
If in small quantities, monitor again!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this blood you have reported and all the inconveniences this must have caused you. If you have no other symptoms and this is very minimal, I will suggest that you monitor again for at least 2days. If this continues, then it would be necessary to get it examined.

Bright red blood often comes from a cut. I would not want to imagine that you somehow caused some trauma to your vaginal wall. Should your symptoms persist after two days, a vaginal exam would tell us what the exact problem is and whether treatment is warranted.

I will also suggest that you put on a protective underwear to make sure you don't get stained by blood and more so when you are out in the public to avoid any embarrassments.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you s much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you for the prompt answer!
Hmm... Definitely not a cut, unless tampax could cause a cut…
I don't tink I have any other symptoms. Although I became a bit hypochondriac and started imagining small cramps and lightheadedness (i don't think any of this is real).
But i would definitely observe it for couple of more days, thanks.

Hi and thanks for getting back to me.

Keep me updated as you get more information. Remember to stay calm as it is very important for a non biased assessment of what is actually going on. This is not life threatening and shouldn't scare you that much at this time.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
