Question: I need an answer from a gynecologist. I did not have sex til I was 41 (unusual I know) . I was waiting. Anyway, I had some discomfort during all sex so far. Yesterday, did me (woman ) on top for the first time in the evening. By the morning, I have what feels like cramps &I have bleeding. I have seen the RN at my primary care physician since I started having sex with this man (first partner) Thanks, I fell like this bleeding is inside. I have a had sex a dozen times before with him (missionary style)

Brief Answer:
Vaginal tear

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concerns about bleeding you have.

It is common to have some small trauma due to tear in vaginal mucosa while doing sexual intercourse in woman on top position. This bleeding which is little more initially reduces to minor spotting for next 2 days and slowly disappears.

I advice you not to have sexual intercourse for next one week so that the vaginal tear heals completely. Or else it might bleed again.

This is nothing major and hence dont worry about it.

HI. Does it make sense that I would feel some cramping with that? It feels similar and not as bad of camping as when I am on my period. I used a tampon to see where the bleeding might be. I didn't see anything on outside of my body. Bleeding showed up more at first then on the tip of the tampon. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Tampon tip bleeding means bleeding at higher up in vagina

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Yes. Such injury is associated with cramping.

Bleeding at tip of tampon shows that injury is little higher.

Dont worry as it will heal by itself. Just follow advice i mentioned previously.

HI. I have another follow up question. I have talked to the RN at my doctor's office but not figured out anything more than you told me. ... What can I do to prevent this from happening to me again? more lubrication? My RN has suggested to use it in the past bc sex hurt. It doesn't hurt now or rarely , it doesn't feel good yet either.I also still wonder why is doesn't feel great yet. Nothing but pressure really. I like the guy. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Lubrication will help

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Lubrication will definitely help. You dont need anything else. Nothing to do with the guy.

Please continue the lubrication which will make a difference.
