Brief Answer:
Most likely to be due to infection .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Itching of genitals that your female partner gets after sex is most likely to be due to infected semen .

Get your Semen examination and Semen culture done to trace out organisms causing this infection and their antibiotic sensitivity pattern so as to help you to take appropriate antibiotic to eradicate infection .

In the mean while you can start taking Doxicycline twice daily .

Ensure to wash your genitals before and after sexual intercourse .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Thank you Doctor.

I have just read briefly about Doxicycline and I see it is an antibiotics but also for treatment of chlamydia, does this mean i might be having chlamydia?

Also this is a bacterial and not a fungal infection, right? Is this also transmitted through sexual intercourse? The bacterial infection? Does it mean my partner most likely has the infection as well?

For example the doxicycline, should she take it as well? We just had a healthy baby 6 months ago, does it have any other effects apart from itchy semen?

And this issue has been happening for along time, possibly 3 years, it hasnt been there, does that mean that i have had this bacterial infection for that long without my body being able to fight it off?

For how long shouls i take the doxicycline? What dosage should i get?

Also at this point, you are saying its a bacterial and not fungal infection? Or viral?

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .

The Doxicycline is an antibiotic that is commonly used in variety of infective diseases like throat infection ,skin infection ,genital infection soft tissue infection etc that does not mean that the patient has all these infections when it is being prescribed to patient

Doxicycline is being prescribed to you for few days till the time you get report of Semen culture .You will need to switch on to appropriate antibiotic as per culture report.

Semen infection can occur even without being transmitted through sexual contact.

Whether it is fungal infection ,bacterial infection can be revealed on semen culture .

There is no entity like viral genital infection .

Get culture of vaginal secretions of your wife if it reveals infection she too may need to take appropriate antibiotic .

Your baby will not have adverse effects due to vaginal itching .

Thanks and Regards.
