Question: i have found this mass in my vagina, it seems to take up a lot of space to the point where i think sex or inserting a tampon would be quite difficult. i have polycystic ovarian disease which i was diagnosed with about 10 years ago and earlier this year i had a period that lasted 5 weeks in which i passed really large clots. my doctor has referred me for an ultrasound but now i have found this mass and im concerned
Brief Answer:
Its a vaginal prolapse.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
From the picture that you have posted it seems that your vaginal walls have become a bit loose and so they seem to be causing obstruction due to pressure either from bladder, uterus or rectum. Its called a vaginal prolapse.
A better picture with the labia well separated and after coughing so that the protrusion is well seen is needed to know exactly which wall has become loose.
A sonography will not be helpful in this case. Also Polycystic disease and heavy bleeding are mostly not related to this.
Get a better ( and vertical not diagonal ) picture with well separated labia majoras.
Also i want to ask you some questions :
1) Do you have difficulty in urination or defecation recently?
2) Do you pass urine out sometimes when you cough?
3) Does the mass increase and seem to fall out when you walk.
