What Causes Vascular Issues And High BP After Leg Amputation?

Question: My 85 year old mother in law has a previous history of breast cancer which resulted in amputation of her right leg. Her appendix burst as well had a abcess. They drained the abcess but will not remove her appendix due to their concern of too many complication with vascular issues and age and having to maintain her blood pressure. Would this be the right thing to do?

Brief Answer: It can be right decision. Detailed Answer: Hello! Thank you for the query. In some age (different to every person) body condition becomes too weak for any surgery. It all depends of the associating diseases, lifestyle and many others. Your mothers history of leg amputation indicates that her blood vessels are in poor condition. Breast cancer does not help. It is very possible that any surgery in her condition will be extremely life threatening. So this might be the right decision to give her more chances to survive leaving the appendix alone.
