What Causes Vertigo After A Hernia Surgery In An Elderly Person?
Post Surgery Vertigo / Under Assessment
Detailed Answer:
Brief Ans-Post Surgery Vertigo / Under Assessment
Hi Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM.
Read And Reviewed your query in context to your health concern about your 80 yr friend.
The mesh implant hernia repair-in itself does not seem to be related to the Vertigo in male of 80 yr in post surgical period.
Probable Causes of Post-Surgical Vertigo In your friends case-
Surgical stress with raised sodium in the body, mostly seem to be the cause of the Vertigo in your friends case. This seems to be secondary to surgical stress causing imbalance in endo-lymphatic fluid of the inner ear.
Post-operative drugs and infusions,or NSAIDs induced Gastritis, could lead to this Vertigo.
There are many causes which need to be verified, after proper physical examination with ENT Surgeon and investigation with CT if need be.
Suggestion-
IN the given scenario-a through physical check up with the attending Surgeon and with the ENT Surgeon would find out the cause of this hernia.
But its certain that the mesh implant-used for belly button hernia repair-in itself has not cause or develop this Vertigo
Hope this reply would help you to resolve your friends Vertigo with help of doctors there.
