What Causes Vertigo In A Person Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer And Labyrinthitis?

default
Posted on Wed, 23 Dec 2015
Question: I have been diagnosed with Labrynthitus 1 year ago but it literally went away after 2 months. I have had inner ear infections all my life more frequent than my peers or family. I have a low thyroid too and take .5 mg for that. I was also recently diagnosed with prostate cancer but we are monitoring it closely and it seems to be somewhat stable. Here's the question : I started getting vertigo about two months ago and it wont dissipate or go away. I've taken antibiotics and I've seen my specialist, I have an MRI scheduled for this week. I don't think its my head. It's more hormonal or thyroid. It went away about 10 days ago. I tried something, I masturbated. Bingo, one day later I'm dizzy again and stay dizzy. What is the connection ?

Brief Answer:
Symptomatic treatment and management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

Labyrinth is inner ear portion where balance is involved. Infection of labyrinth leads to dizziness and vertigo. Recurrent inner ear infections is the cause of your vertigo. You will need a complete vestibular functions assessment and evaluation to sort out other differentials like meniere's disease , BPPV etc. Low blood pressure, anxiety, many medications, migraine, overheating or dehydration, poor blood circulation, XXXXXXX stroke or TIA are some of the differentials need to be ruled out too.

Take some betahistines, antivert and some benadryl for the relief meanwhile and let the otorhinolaryngologist how to assess and proceed from there. Till then make sure you Avoid quick changes in position or sudden movements. Sit still during a vertigo attack. Get up slowly from a lying down or seated position. Avoid television, computer screens, and bright or flashing lights during a vertigo attack. If vertigo occurs while you’re in bed, try sitting up in a chair and keeping your head still. Low lighting is better for your symptoms than darkness or bright lights.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
