What Causes Vibrating Sensation Near The Rectal Area?

Posted on Tue, 20 Jun 2017
Question: The past four days I have had a vibrating sensation near my rectal and urinary tract area. It is not painful (It's almost like a cat purring) but it does concern me. Approximately two months ago I began taking insulin for my Type II Diabetes. Could this be a reaction?

Brief Answer:
I s this permanent? For how long has this been going on?

Detailed Answer:
HI and thanks so much for this query.

I have reviewed this information fully. This is no in any way linked to insulin. I will like to understand more about this to:

1. Establish whether it is transient or permanent and:
2. Determine whether it could be explained by a disease or constitute an ongoing disease process.

For this kindly let me know whether it happens all the times or just at particular times. Also the total duration when it occurs and the amount to elapsed time since you first noticed it.

I hope to hear from you!

Hello Dr. Chobufo Ditah,

My symptoms began last Friday, May 26, 2014. The vibrations currently occur while I am sitting or standing and last anywhere from 1 to 2 minutes. Today at lunch it happened 4 different times within a 45 minute period. I have had about 10 episodes today. It happens through out the day and evening.

Thank you,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Observe only for now!

Detailed Answer:
HI,

I have reviewed these details fully. The intermittent nature and duration of each episode are not that worrisome. Am more optimistic this requires no specific medication of intervention. This should regress progressive and resolve completely.

For now, monitor only and report further if the duration or frequency increases and there is pain.

I wish you well.
