Diet/Infection/Drugs/ Metabolic diseases can alter the normal colour and odour of urine. Normal Urine does not have a strong odour, but smells like ammonia when concentrated.
Diabetes and Infection is very common at your age. As a doctor I would like to know certain details regarding associated illnesses if any like diabetes/ hypertension/ prostate enlargement/ medications and recent change in your diet for further suggestions.
Reports of investigations already done would be of great help if it can be uploaded here. There is a feature to upload the reports by yourself on the right side of this query page. You may want to utilize it.
Hope I have answered your query. Please let me know.
All the best.

Yes, You do have a complicated health history as you think. I do understand your condition. Are you in hospital now? because bilateral diaphragm palsy needs hospitalisation as such for maintaining oxygen saturation.
And You have all the risk factors which can cause Infection like Diabetes, Prostatic problem and interaction of so many drugs. So, In my opinion you need to undergo battery of tests (Urine routine & Culture, Complete haemogram, LFT, RFT and others) to rule out infection as the cause of Urine odour.
Also I want to know details regarding blood sugar levels at present and possible catheterisation of urethra at present/in recent past for further suggestion in this regard.
Hope, I have answered your query. Please let me know with details of associated symptoms like fever, difficulty in respiration and others if any.
All the best.
Have patience in rehabilitation

I understand your situation and will try to help you out as far as possible within my abilities. As you have a very complicated history with the involvement of multi-systems, it is very difficult to take care of this situation even for super specialists.
Though you have given me detailed history regarding your course of hospital stay, you have not divulged any information regarding present situation and reports that I had asked with present state of catheterisation.
So, In my opinion it is better to undergo the tests I have mentioned above in my previous answer to rule out any present infection for further suggestions. Waiting for your results of reports and wish you a great come back/recovery.
All the best. Hope I have answered your query. Please let me know/come back to me any time.
