What Causes Visible Blue Veins On Knee After An Injury?
Question: Fell on my knee a couple of days ago and now there are two blue veins that have seemed to pop out on my knee. Is that normal?
Brief Answer:
Blood clot can make veins prominent.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Because of adjacent soft tissue swelling due to fall, Most of the time such prominent veins are just normal and stand out
Check out if there are similar veins on other side. Note are there any difference in size, appearance, feel and overlying skin.
Check out if there is swelling in area other than area of injury, are these vein compressible with fingers or they feel rigid (rigid indicate clot), is it painful to touch them, is it there reddening along the length of these vein. If there are these findings then get Doppler of veins done to see if there is clot in vessels due to injury.
Please check this out and let me know.
