What Causes Voiding Dysfunction And Nocturia?
Question: This is for me. Male 59 years old. 5'8" 190 lbs. Dx with sleep apnea, tx with CPAP. Good health, recent lab results all normal.
Prostate normal size, I'm told by my doctor. Symptoms have gotten worse - I get up anywhere from 3-5x a night to urinate. And sometimes every 20 min during the day. The desire to urinate comes on strong, and it takes a bit of time for the stream to flow, when it does usually it's a split stream and/or dribbling. It is just getting very annoying lately!

Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have obstructive voiding symptoms and nocturia mostly due to what is called as Bladder Neck Obstruction (BNO)
Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis-
1) Urine routine and culture sensitivity test
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Uroflowmetry
5) Endoscopic examination of bladder (Cystoscopy).
Start taking Tadalafil (Cialis) in small doses (5mg or 10 mg) once daily. It will help to improve urine flow .
Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis. You may need to undergo endoscopic surgery of Bladder Neck Incision (BNI)
