What Causes Vomiting, Fever, Swollen Legs And Face In A Child?
Battery of investigation is needed
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Swelling in legs/face in a well child can be due to loss of protein in urine(kidney disease),in stool(enteropathy)or decreased formation of protein in body(liver disorder).
Few conditions unrelated to decreased protein can also cause swelling. These are heart disorder, thyroid problem, anemia(low hemoglobin).
You have mentioned that clinical examination is normal except the swelling.
There is no history of jaundice, decreased urinary output or loose stool.
Considering all this I would like to get serum protein level(albumin and globulin),24 hour excretion of urinary protein, liver function test and thyroid test done.Your physician has already advised CBC,USG KUB.
Sometimes simple urine test does not show protein and in this condition 24 hour urinary test can help.
Please consult your physician to get all these tests done.
Continue giving lanzol junior tablet for next two to three days.
I hope this helps.
Please do ask if you have any more query.
