Question: Dear Dr.,
My kid age 6 years 5 months. Last week he had vomiting stomach pain immediately after eating a cake. Three episodes of vomit and stomach pain. immediately given Ondem syrup. Vomit controlled But his apetite reduced drastically. Consulted doctor he wrote Lanzol Jr tabs for week. After using two days reduced but stomach ace continued. Especially after eating food he is complaining pain. Then again consulted Doctor this time complete stool examination and culture done. Both are negative. Doctor told its gastritis and leave him and no need of any medicine. Let him eat what ever amount he eats and stop whenever he refuses. Don't pressurise him he told. As a parent we are worried. Last month also he had same issue. But his pain of stomach after eating meal not reduced. Abdominal scan normal. Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Your kid's doctor is right about the gastritis.

In order to provide relief, you need to ask for the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Continue Lanzol Junior tablet (lansoprazole) for the time being. Alternatively give Nexium (esomeprazole) XXXXXXX once daily before breakfast for at least a couple of weeks.
* You may give some liquid antacid when he gets such pain, and see if it helps.
* Give plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like isabgol/psyllium husk or senna. I would insist you to increase your dietary fiber intake.
* Regular playing or exercise for at 1 hour a day to keep the bowel movements proper.
* Give curd or yogurt on daily basis. It contains beneficial bacteria and should help.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
