Question: My walking gait has declined to somewhat of jerky step. I have degrative disc disease at L3 to L5. Could this disc involvement be the walking issue.
Second ? I have neural foramen narrowing approaching stenosis is a surgical procedure indicated to open the enlarged foramen?

The answer to your question is yes, degenative disc disease and foraminal narrowing could cause walking issues too, besides other symptoms such pain and sensitive changes in leg, if the nerve(s) are compressed.

This is evaluated better by MRI of lumbar spine results in correlation with clinical neurologic findings.

If there is evidence of nerve compression that is responsible for symptoms too, surgery (decompressive) is one of the treatment options to stop progression of the condition.
