Question: Hi Doctor,

I have something on my leg that i thought was a wart. I am attaching a picture. Please confirm whether this is a wart?

Hello

Thanks for posting your query. I can understand your concern.

I reviewed the picture.

You seem to be having a furuncle which is a bacterial infection of the skin. It is not a wart.

I would recommend application of Mupirocin cream twice a day for a week. Also you will need to take an oral antibiotic like azithromycin 500 mg once a day for three days. You will need a prescription for the same.

The furuncle should resolve with the above medications.

Thanks for your reply.

Its caused by a bacteria called staphylococcus aureus. It is an infection of the skin caused by this bacteria which cause these kind of lesions of the skin.
