What Causes Water Sensation In Ears And Sinus Headaches?
I seem to have strange issues with my ears on occassion. Sometimes, I feel like there is water in my ear, or that I have swimmer's ear, when I haven't been swimming at all. It's like someone poured a bottle cap of water in my ear and it's just swishing around in there and won't come out. My physician says it may be my eustation tubes and said to take nasacort once a day which helps some, but it is still happening. Sometimes, also, my ears might ring slightly, or feel like they are "stuffed up", but I can still hear fine and at my ears' maximum potential. What is going on, and what can I do about it? Oh yes, and sometimes I also feel light-headed or dizy, and sometimes get sinous headaches. I had one sinous infection this spring which was successfully treated with Amoxisylin, but sometimes I will still get pain in my sinouses. Thanks!
eustachian tube dysfunction
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to healthcaremagic,
From your symptoms it appears that your eustachian tubes are malfunctioning. These tubes connect the ears to the nose. Any conditions of the nose like infections or allergy results in dysfunction of the tubes.
You have to see an ENT specialist to look for allergies or infections in your nose and sinuses. Only treatment of the primamry problem will result in resolution of your symptoms.
Till then you can try decongestant nose drops . These drops help to open the eustachian tubes. Instill3 drops in each nostril 3 times a day and follow it up with steam inhalation for 5 days.
You can also try an exercise called valsalva exercise. You can find the details of the exercise on YouTube.
Feel free to follow up,
